We’re thrilled to share that BPH is collaborating with the National Hockey League’s (NHL) Boston Bruins and National Women's Hockey League’s (NWHL) Boston Pride for an inclusive, friendly scrimmage at Warrior Ice Arena to celebrate Pride Month.
The event will feature a scrimmage where players will receive customized jerseys, followed by a reception to honor Boston Pride Hockey players and Pride Month.
"Teamwork, acceptance, and respect are at BPH's core, and we're proud to team up with the Boston Bruins, NWHL, Boston Pride, and TD Bank to celebrate Pride Month," said Greg Sargent, President of Boston Pride Hockey. "We believe hockey is for everyone, and this Pride we're reaffirming our commitment to forging an inclusive, welcoming hockey experience for all and eliminating the fear of being one's true self on and off the ice."
The scrimmage is presented by TD Bank as part of their partnership with the Boston Bruins on Hockey is for Everyone initiatives. Hockey is for Everyone is an NHL initiative in partnership with You Can Play that utilizes the sport of hockey, and the League's global influence, to drive positive social change and foster more inclusive communities, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
"At TD, we're continuing to support the LGBTQ2+ community through a variety of community-led initiatives like this scrimmage to help strengthen diversity and inclusion in the Boston area," said Winson Wang, TD Bank Diversity & Inclusion Council Co-Chair, Southern New England. "During Pride month and all year long, TD is working to help increase the visibility of our diverse communities, drive positive progress, and open doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow."
Four members from the NWHL Boston Pride will join the event as coaches, including Kaleigh Fratkin, Taylor Wenczkowski, Mal Souliotis, and Bree Mastel. In addition, Bruins alumni Andrew Raycroft and Andrew Alberts will be in attendance.
