BPH and Boston Bruins Host 2022 Pride Skate at Warrior Ice Arena in Celebration of Pride Month
BOSTON, MA – Boston Pride Hockey (BPH) and the Boston Bruins hosted a scrimmage and reception at Warrior Ice Arena on Thursday, June 23 in celebration of Pride Month.
The scrimmage included members of Boston Pride Hockey (BPH), former Boston Bruins goaltender and current Team Ambassador Tuukka Rask, Bruins alumni and NESN analyst Andrew Raycroft, Boston Pride President and Olympic gold medalist Colleen Coyne, and members of the PHF’s Boston Pride.
Boston Pride Hockey (BPH) is a New England non-profit organization dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming environment for LGBTQ+ players and allies to learn, enjoy, and compete in the sport of hockey. Since its founding in 1989, BPH has grown exponentially, consistently expanding upon its wide range of dynamic and inclusive programs offered throughout the year. These include its Inclusive Hockey League (IHL), year-round pick-up games, tournaments around the globe, skill sessions, and youth hockey initiatives.
“At BPH, we believe hockey is for everyone and remain committed to our mission of providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive hockey environment for anyone who wants to participate — both on and off the ice,” said Greg Sargent, President of Boston Pride Hockey. “This Pride Month, we’re once again proud to join the Boston Bruins, TD Bank, and PHF’s Boston Pride to celebrate teamwork, acceptance, and respect — three values that continue to be at the core of every BPH initiative.”
The scrimmage marked the second year the Bruins have hosted BPH as part of Hockey is for Everyone — an NHL initiative in partnership with You Can Play that utilizes the sport of hockey, and the League's global influence, to drive positive social change and foster more inclusive communities, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and socio-economic status.
