Boston Bruins Host Boston Pride Hockey for Scrimmage In Celebration of Pride Month
BOSTON (June 4, 2021) - The Boston Bruins hosted a scrimmage for members of Boston Pride Hockey at Warrior Ice Arena on June 4, sponsored by TD Bank, in honor of Pride Month.
Boston Pride Hockey (BPH) is New England's LGBTQ+ hockey organization that provides an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for players to learn, enjoy, and compete in hockey. Boston Pride Hockey offers a range of dynamic and inclusive programs that provide opportunities for all to participate in, including scrimmages, skill sessions, tournaments, and more.
The event featured a scrimmage where players will receive customized jerseys, followed by a reception to honor Boston Pride Hockey players and Pride Month.
"Teamwork, acceptance, and respect are at BPH's core, and we're proud to team up with the Boston Bruins, NWHL, Boston Pride, and TD Bank to celebrate Pride Month," said Greg Sargent, President of Boston Pride Hockey. "We believe hockey is for everyone, and this Pride we're reaffirming our commitment to forging an inclusive, welcoming hockey experience for all and eliminating the fear of being one's true self on and off the ice."
The scrimmage was presented by TD Bank as part of their partnership with the Boston Bruins on Hockey is for Everyone initiatives. "At TD, we're continuing to support the LGBTQ2+ community through a variety of community-led initiatives like this scrimmage to help strengthen diversity and inclusion in the Boston area," said Winson Wang, TD Bank Diversity & Inclusion Council Co-Chair, Southern New England. "During Pride month and all year long, TD is working to help increase the visibility of our diverse communities, drive positive progress, and open doors to a more inclusive and sustainable tomorrow."
Four members from the NWHL Boston Pride joined the event as coaches, including Kaleigh Fratkin, Taylor Wenczkowski, Mal Souliotis, and Bree Mastel. In addition, Bruins alumni Andrew Raycroft and Andrew Alberts will be in attendance.
